Sean is a designer, educator, and builder based in Golden, Colorado. He holds an M.Arch from the University of Colorado Denver, where he also earned a certificate in Design-Build. His academic journey is marked by a deep commitment to mentorship and leadership.

While attending CU Denver, Sean directed the AIAS Freedom by Design program, leading the team to national recognition in 2023 with the award for Best Freedom by Design Project of the Year. He was also part of the Phase 2 design team for the NOAA Fisheries Field Camp on Cape Shirreff, Antarctica—an award-winning project through Colorado Building Workshop that exemplifies his passion for remote, resilient architecture.

Sean was honored with the Alpha Rho Chi Leadership Merit Award upon graduation and continues to teach Undergraduate Design Studios 1 & 4 as a lecturer at CU Denver.

Prior to architecture school, Sean earned an undergraduate degree in International Economics and a Master's in Banking. He spent 17 years in commercial lending, where he worked on a wide range of deals including real estate development loans, commercial and industrial financing, municipal bonds, and tax-exempt projects.

At Studio Spek, he leads as the Director of Design and brings a hands-on, community-driven approach to architecture—blending craft, curiosity, and collaboration. His unique professional background allows him to push Studio Spek’s mission forward as a design-led development studio.

From December 1st, 2025, to December 31st , 2026, he will be on sabbatical with his family while they travel around the world visiting over 30 countries! He will be diving deep into historical vernacular architecture to try and discover connections between how we built things in the past and how we, as humans, can innovate and build for the future. 

Brewster recently graduated from the Masters of Architecture program at the University of Colorado Denver along with George and Sean. He looks forward to bringing his passion for all things built to Studio Spek as we continue to grow, learn and innovate.
